Lola Young collapsed onstage during her set Saturday evening, Sept. 27, while performing at the All Things Go festival in New York City. The south London singer, 24, had delivered several songs before suddenly falling backward and being carried off by her band and security.

Young opened with a powerful vocal display, performing four tracks from her recent album I’m Only F—ing Myself — “Spiders,” “F— Everyone,” “Dealer” and “Walk All Over You.” Midway through the 2023 single “Conceited,” she paused briefly to communicate with her keyboardist; the interaction was cut short when she collapsed.

Members of Young’s touring party — including bandmates, her team and security personnel — immediately surrounded her, tended to her onstage for approximately 30–45 seconds, and then escorted her off the platform. The stadium fell into a stunned silence, and the audience offered an appreciative round of applause as she was helped away. Festival staff cued a recorded track while medical and support personnel assisted.

Earlier the night before, Young had been pulled from a scheduled appearance at Audacy’s We Can Survive concert at Prudential Center. Her manager, Nick Shymansky, explained on Instagram Stories that the cancellation was prompted by a “sensitive matter” and noted the singer’s openness about her mental health.

“Lola is very open about her mental health and there are very occasionally days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe,” Shymansky wrote. “She is an incredible person and always takes her fans, career and performances seriously. I can only send huge apologies for the inconvenience caused.”

Before the incident at Forest Hills, Young addressed the crowd about her decision to perform that night. “Today I woke up and I made the decision to come here,” she told attendees. “I wanted to be, I wanted to perform, and I didn’t want to wallow in my sadness. Sometimes life can throw you lemons and you just gotta motherf—ing make lemonade … I really appreciate everyone who’s here tonight.”

Billboard has contacted Young’s representatives for an update on her condition. Promoters and her team have not released further medical details publicly as of this posting.

The abrupt ending to Young’s set left fans and fellow artists expressing concern across social platforms, underscoring the pressures artists face while managing health and demanding touring schedules.
