Lizzo and Harry Styles — a musical love story for the books.
The two artists have had a mutual adoration for one another for a long time now: There’s the time Styles joyfully covered “Juice” for BBC Radio’s Live Lounge series, their flirty encounter at the Brit Awards, and so on. Fans have been wanting the pop stars to work together for a long time — so much that Lizzo even recently teased them about it. When revealing via TikTok that Cardi B would be her “Rumors” collaborator, Lizzo FaceTimed the “WAP” rapper and jokingly said, “That’s who it’s featuring y’all, period … it’s Harry Styles!”
And though there isn’t actually a known Lizzo featuring Harry Styles in the works yet, the “Truth Hurts” singer has thought about what it might sound like. Both artists are so versatile that it could go any direction, as Lizzo told Roman Kemp on Capital Breakfast for the U.K.’s Capital FM. “Who knows? That’s what I love about that — it’s like anything can come out of it.”
Option No. 1? An ooey-gooey love ballad. “I feel like it would be a love duet,” she said. “You know, we both have so much love for each other and we love to sing about love.”
But then again, these are the artists who have written energetic, carefree tracks such as “Truth Hurts,” “Good As Hell,” “Adore You,” and more. With that in mind, Lizzo thinks their potential collaboration could go down a cheerier route. “We’re also very happy-go-lucky if you think about ‘Juice’ and ‘Watermelon Sugar,’ you know what I mean?” she said. “We could do that too.”
Truly anything could happen in a Lizzo x Harry song, but one thing’s for sure: With their track records, it would be good as hell. Even if it ended up being the third idea Lizzo had on Capital Breakfast — “We can make the ‘Thong Song’!”
