Even with slight AutoTune alteration, T9ine’s voice sounds raw, which makes listening to his moody melody-driven raps feel invasive. On “Flick Me Up,” the Tampa rapper sounds over it all, delivering every line with an audible sigh. Over the smooth manipulated vocal sample, he coos the opening line: “I’m tryna’ figure out the right time to tell you how I feel about you.” Later, he states his case plainly, “Told me that she love me, I didn’t even understand her.” He makes talking about your emotions sound stressful.
