BalloutQui$e- “Fuck Rap”

Built on a beat that sounds ripped from a ’90s investigative news program, “Fuck Rap,” a loosie by Diego Money affiliate BalloutQui$e is a frigid trunk rattler. As a piano plays gently behind him, BalloutQui$e rants about his exhaustion with the rap game: “How much money I done made off of rap?/I didn’t make a dollar/Still in trap getting it/We in public housing.” After going off on the genre’s lack of profitability, he brags about how much money he’s making: “I ain’t ever going broke, I got a couple businesses.” And from the music video, it appears like business is going well. He sensually rubs money on himself and an expensive watch, holds up money for the camera, and smells large bags of marijuana. All of this shows that he’s making cash, and he has little patience for people who smoke with him who don’t: “If you broke and can’t afford a swisha, then how you gonna get high with me?” It seems like a fair point until you remember that he just showed you that he had pounds of weed. Stinginess aside, BalloutQui$e delivers icy bars with facility on this track–maybe, he’ll learn to share on the next one.

With artists releasing songs at a fast and furious pace, it’s difficult for the average hip-hop head to keep track of it all—no matter how tapped in they are. That’s why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear.
