Although facing potential incarceration after an alleged incident with Los Angeles law enforcement on August 21, Lil Nas X remains resilient, his father Robert Stafford reports.

In footage obtained by TMZ on August 25, Stafford shared insights into his son’s wellbeing following the pop star’s arrest for reportedly charging at police officers. “He’s in high spirits and doing well,” Stafford stated. “He deeply regrets what transpired. Incidents like this can touch any family—he’ll receive the support he needs. Please keep him in your thoughts and extend the same grace and mercy we all seek.”

Stafford’s remarks coincided with Lil Nas X’s arraignment, where the “Old Town Road” artist pleaded not guilty to three felony counts of battery on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. Bail was set at $75,000.

Authorities allege that on the morning of August 21, the 26-year-old musician was found wandering unclothed in a Los Angeles neighborhood. When officers approached, he allegedly advanced toward them and was taken into custody. He was then transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation of a suspected overdose before being booked and held over the weekend.

Addressing rumors of substance use, Stafford emphatically replied, “Absolutely not,” underscoring that his son is “mentally sound and in a strong headspace.”

Attorney Drew Findling echoed this defense, noting that Lil Nas X has no prior legal infractions. “One isolated episode will not derail his life or career,” Findling asserted. Regarding whether drugs or mental health were factors, he cautioned that it’s too soon to draw definitive conclusions after the initial court appearance.
