After Drake shared a special teaser for his upcoming new album, Lil Nas X decided to use the moment for a little promotion of his own.
In a tweet on Monday (Aug. 30), the “Industry Baby” rapper shared an image of 12 bearded, masculine-presenting emojis, all holding their own pregnant bellies. The rapper simply captioned the image “‘Montero’ the album out September 17, 2021.”
The image bore a clear resemblance to an image shared by OVO Sound, Drake’s record label, earlier Monday, announcing that the rapper’s long-awaited new album Certified Lover Boy would be officially released this Friday (Sept. 3). Rap Radar‘s Elliott Wilson later took to his own Twitter account to confirm that the image was, in fact, the official artwork for Drake’s new record.
Lil Nas X’s fans immediately started having some fun with the idea of trolling Drake’s new record, saying that Lil Nas X should rethink the title for his debut album just to continue his trolling. “Name the album Certified Boy Lover,” one user wrote.
Last week, Lil Nas X revealed the official release date for his long-awaited debut album, along with sharing a snippet of a new song and letting his fans know what they can expect from the project. “Creating this album has been therapy for me. I’ve learned to let go of trying to control people’s perception of who I am, what I can do, and where I will be,” he wrote on Twitter. “I’ve realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own.”
