Lil Nas X Hospitalized After Charging Toward L.A. Police Officers

Singer-rapper Lil Nas X was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital on Thursday morning, August 21, following an early encounter with police that may have involved a drug overdose.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed officers responded to reports of an unclothed individual prowling Ventura Boulevard at approximately 5:50 a.m. Pacific Time. According to the LAPD, upon arrival the person lunged at officers and was swiftly detained. After being handcuffed, he was transported to a nearby medical center for evaluation of a suspected overdose and was booked on suspicion of battery on a police officer.

Billboard has reached out to Lil Nas X’s representatives for comment.

Video footage published by TMZ shows Lil Nas X walking through Los Angeles wearing only white underwear and cowboy boots. In the clip, he tells the filmer, “Don’t be late to the party tonight,” as he performs a series of dance moves.

This incident occurred just one day after the artist cleared his Instagram feed, adopted the moniker “Queen Madeline,” and began sharing a string of whimsical posts featuring elaborate costumes and song snippets, including collaborations with Young Kio and Lil Jon.

Earlier this year, in April, Lil Nas X revealed he had been hospitalized due to partial paralysis on the right side of his face. Although he did not disclose a formal diagnosis, he later assured fans that his facial mobility had largely returned.
