Lil Nas X Assures Fans He’ll Be Okay After “Terrifying” Arrest

Following a distressing ordeal, Lil Nas X is reassuring fans that he’s on the mend.

In an Instagram Stories update on Tuesday, August 26, the “Old Town Road” star issued his first public remarks since his August 21 arrest, in which he allegedly advanced on officers. “I’m going to be okay, y’all. Really,” he said with a wry smile. “I’m going to make it through this.”

On August 21, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports of “a naked individual walking in the street,” later confirmed to be Lil Nas X. Authorities allege the singer lunged at officers; he was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation of a suspected overdose, then booked and held in custody for three days.

At his arraignment on Monday, August 25, he pleaded not guilty to three felony counts of battery on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. His bail was set at $75,000, which he posted before being released according to People.

Wearing a neon green sweater in his video, he described the experience as “f—ing terrifying” before assuring viewers, “I’m going to be all right.”

Outside a Los Angeles courthouse on August 25, his father, Robert Stafford, shared his own message of support: “He’s in good spirits and very remorseful for what happened. We’re grateful for the love and prayers. He’ll get the help he needs—please keep him in your thoughts.”
