Lil Nas X and Anya Taylor-Joy tell Saturday Night Live cast member Chris Redd to slow his roll in the hilarious promo clips for this weekend’s show. The MC and Queen’s Gambit star act surprised when Redd gets all emotional about Saturday’s (May 22) season finale.
“Man, I’m gonna miss you guys over the summer,” says Redd. “You’ve never met us before this week,” Lil Nas reminds the comedian. “Yeah, we don’t work here,” Taylor-Joy adds. “You see! That’s why I’m gonna miss you guys, y’all so funny!” Redd laughs nervously.
In the second clip, Redd is again hyped about the season finale, boasting that the show “saved the best for last,” which inspires the proper English actress to correct him, politely. “Well, we want to be humble, the other shows were great too,” she says. “No, this is the best one,” Lil Nas responds, as the host quickly agrees. Neither is up for a celebratory hug from Redd, though.
To be fair, it has been a pretty epic 46th season, with musical guests Megan Thee Stallion, Jack White, Justin Bieber, H.E.R., The Strokes, Foo Fighters, Morgan Wallen, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Dua Lipa, Machine Gun Kelly, Phoebe Bridgers, Nathaniel Rateliff, Bad Bunny, Nick Jonas, Jack Harlow, St. Vincent, Kid Cudi, Miley Cyrus and Olivia Rodrigo.
In celebration of his SNL appearance, Lil Nas dropped the new, chilled-out acoustic single “Sun Goes Down.”
