Lianne La Havas Returns with Intimate New Single “Disarray”

After roughly five years away from the spotlight, British singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas has returned with a new single titled “Disarray.”

The track — which La Havas described in a press statement as “a window into a moment of my life” — was captured live to tape, intentionally preserving the warmth and vulnerability of a close, unembellished vocal performance. The result feels intimate, as if the song were a private confession.

Backed by a delicate, finger-plucked electric guitar, La Havas delivers a reflective meditation on the slow unravelling of a relationship, expressing enduring memories and a quiet wish that the other person would return to who they once were. Listen to the full track embedded below.

“Disarray” is La Havas’s first release since her self-titled album in 2020. Co-written with Matthew Hales, that record explored the arc of romantic attachment and was later honored with an Ivor Novello award. The album also reached the U.K. top 10, adding to La Havas’s consistent chart success following 2015’s Blood and the Mercury Prize–nominated Is Your Love Big Enough?

On social media, La Havas framed “Disarray” as the beginning of a new chapter. In an Instagram post dated Sept. 24, she said that a chaotic period in her life is now behind her and signaled that she plans to share more of her story in the months ahead. (Instagram post link below.)
