Lauren Daigle rolls up her fifth leader on Billboard‘s airplay-, sales- and streaming- based Hot Christian Songs chart, as “Hold on to Me” jumps from No. 5 to No. 1 on the June 5-dated list.
The single, released Feb. 26 as Daigle’s first new music in the Christian genre since 2018, hits the pinnacle after Daigle performed it on the season finale of NBC’s The Voice on May 25. It surged by 228% to 5,500 downloads sold in the week ending May 27, according to MRC Data, and rebounds for a seventh week atop Christian Digital Song Sales.
The track also drew 1.8 million U.S. streams in the tracking week. On Christian Airplay, it pushes 9-8 for a new high, up 5% to 7.4 million in audience.
The Louisiana-born Daigle wrote “Hold On to Me” with Paul Duncan and Paul Mabury.
With five Hot Christian Songs leaders, Daigle boasts the most No. 1s among women since the chart began in 2003. Carrie Underwood ranks next with three. Among all artists, Daigle is tied for seventh place with Matthew West. MercyMe leads with 13 No. 1s.
Daigle previously topped Hot Christian Songs with “Trust in You,” for 18 weeks beginning in March 2016; “Back to God,” with Reba McEntire (one week, March 2017); “You Say” (a record 129 weeks, beginning in July 2018; it ranks at No. 3 on the latest list); and “The Christmas Song” (one week, January 2019).
