At the end of 2020, Colombian artist Crissin dropped his single “Poblado,” reeling in other newcomers such as Totoy El Frio, and duo Natan & Shander. Six months later, reggaeton superstars J Balvin, Karol G, and Nicky Jam took over the remix.
“Poblado,” named after El Poblado, a metropolitan area in Medellín with chic boutiques and high-end restaurants, is a hard-hitting reggaeton that speaks of a man who’s trying to win over a woman with his luxurious lifestyle.
But quite frankly, it’s more than that.
“Poblado” brings to the forefront the new reggaeton and hip-hop movement in Colombia. The original song, which dropped in December under Colombian-based Kapital Music & Entertainment, skyrocketed on TikTok, ultimately grabbing the attention of Balvin, Karol, and Nicky.
Yes, the big dogs add their distinctive touch, witty lyrics, and power vocals to the remix but the real stars are Crissin, Totoy El Frio, Natan & Shander, who joined forces in the first place for this new summer anthem.
“El Poblado” remix, which dropped on June 17 and has amassed over 23 million views at the time of publishing, is nearly seven minutes long and was filmed in Colombia featuring all artists.
