Lady Gaga has co-written an op-ed on psychological well being for The Guardian with Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director-general of the World Health Organization. In the essay, Gaga and Dr. Tedros talk about suicide, psychological well being, and the stigma surrounding them.

“Suicide is the most extreme and visible symptom of the larger mental health emergency we are so far failing to adequately address,” they write. “Stigma, fear and lack of understanding compound the suffering of those affected and prevent the bold action that is so desperately needed and so long overdue.” They additionally state, “The time has come for us all, collectively, to tackle the causes and symptoms of mental illness, and provide care for those who suffer from it.” Read the total op-ed at The Guardian

Back in 2015, Lady Gaga co-wrote an op-ed with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, urging state lawmakers to assist insurance policies to fight sexual assault on the state’s public faculty campuses. The state’s “Enough Is Enough” legislation was handed shortly after.
