Lady A and Boyz II Men release collaboration ‘I Love The One’ for music project inspired by ‘The Chosen’ series

Vocal groups Boyz II Men and Lady A have teamed up on the collaboration “I Love The One,” which is set for release on Friday (Sept. 25) as a preview of the upcoming music project The Chosen – Inspired By (Seasons 1-5). Created by 5&2 Studios and Capitol Christian Music Group, the album is inspired by the historical drama series The Chosen and will be released on Oct. 30.

“For us, the connection to The Chosen is really about what those words represent — being chosen, having purpose and trusting that God can use your life in ways you may not always understand,” Boyz II Men said in a statement. “After more than 30 years together, we don’t believe this journey has been accidental. We’ve always felt there was a greater purpose attached to the gift we were given. ‘I Love The One’ is ultimately an expression of faith, gratitude and love for the One who has carried us through every season. Recording it with Lady A gave us the chance to bring our musical worlds together around a message we genuinely believe in.”

“The heart of this song is really the depiction of the saving power of Jesus through different Bible stories we’ve always loved and have now been able to visualize in a new way through The Chosen,” added Lady A member Dave Haywood. “You feel its lyrics tenfold when you add the unbelievable vocals of Boyz II Men. Their attention to detail in the studio when arranging each member’s parts was like witnessing true geniuses at work. It’s really special not only to work on and release this together, but it gave us chills to hear our six-part harmony. It’s been a deeply moving song to be part of.”

Two more songs from the project have already been released, including Florida Georgia Line member Tyler Hubbard’s rendition of “All I Need Is You,” and Jamie MacDonald’s “Roots.” Other artists featured on the album include Phil Wickham, Anne Wilson, Lost & Found, Franni Cash, Blessing Offor, Steven Stanley and Madison Ryann Ward.

“The Chosen has impacted millions around the world and all of the artists involved have connected with the series in very personal ways,” Capitol Christian Music Group president Brad O’Donnell said in a statement. “Each artist chose a specific episode or moment that moved them and created from that place. And with artists from so many different genres, every song has its own unique perspective and sound. It’s been remarkable to see it come together.”

We believe music adds another dimension to The Chosen experience and allows fans to encounter the story in a new way through the perspectives of these incredible artists. As Season Six approaches, we hope these songs invite fans back into the first five seasons and reconnect them with the moments that have resonated most deeply.”

The Chosen’s sixth season is set to premiere Nov. 15 on Prime Video with the initial release of the upcoming season’s first three episodes.
