Reality television star Kourtney Kardashian has addressed the uproar following images of her 21-month-old son, Rocky Thirteen, aboard a boat without a life vest.

On August 8, the 46-year-old shared a series of Instagram photos—including one that showed Rocky unguarded by any flotation device—sparking concern and criticism across social media.

The snapshots appear to be from a getaway in Idaho, where state law mandates that all children 14 and under must wear a U.S. Coast Guard–approved life jacket when on a vessel.

Followers were quick to weigh in: “Absolutely beautiful—but he needs a life jacket,” wrote one, while another urged, “Please keep that little one safe with a PFD!” Many likened life vests to seat belts, warning that water can turn dangerous in an instant.

Responding the next day via her Instagram Story, Kardashian reassured fans she’d acted on their advice: “Update: bought a life vest that fits!” she wrote over a photo of an infant-sized PFD. “Thank you for the heads-up—didn’t fully consider the risks. Hope this reminds other moms to stay safe on the water.”

The original image showed Kardashian seated at the stern of the boat, cradling baby Rocky, whom she and husband Travis Barker welcomed in November 2023. Kourtney is also mother to Mason, 15, Penelope, 13, and Reign, 10, from her previous relationship with Scott Disick.

Additional photos in the Instagram post included a sleek mirror selfie, serene lake vistas, and snapshots of the family’s meals—“Food for the soul,” she captioned one.
