Kirill Serebrennikov’s “The Disappearance of Josef Mengele” Gets Its First Trailer

The first trailer for The Disappearance of Josef Mengele has been published online. The new picture from director Kirill Serebrennikov (The Student) was screened at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year (out of competition).

The film is adapted from the novel by French writer and journalist Olivier Guez. It follows Nazi war criminal and Auschwitz camp physician Josef Mengele, who fled to South America after World War II.

August Diehl (A Hidden Life, The Master and Margarita) leads the cast. Following its Cannes premiere, critics offered mixed responses.
