Kill Rock Stars, the label that launched landmark records by Bikini Kill, Elliott Smith, Bratmobile, and several others, is now under new ownership. Exceleration Music, an investment firm managed by music industry figures, announced the acquisition on Tuesday. Kill Rock Stars founder Slim Moon shared a brief statement about the new arrangement:

I am grateful and excited that this opportunity came along. Exceleration’s team and vision is a perfect match for Kill Rock Stars. We’ll be able to do even more to support our artists while staying true to the core values KRS was founded on. This is a great situation for our current and future artists, as well as for the KRS catalog.

Kill Rock Stars marked its 30th anniversary last year, issuing an expansive covers compilation to commemorate it. Exceleration has also recently overtaken ownership of Bloodshot Records after the departure of its co-founders.
