Katy Perry Says She’s Stopped ‘Forcing’ Her Career in ‘143’ Anniversary Post: ‘I’m Proud of Where and How I’ve Landed’

Katy Perry Reflects on a Transformative Year Since 143

Published: September 2025

Katy Perry has taken a quiet moment to look back on the past year with affection and perspective. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she assessed the ripple effects of releasing her album 143 and the tour that followed.

Sharing snapshots of life on the road, backstage scenes, and fan encounters, Perry said she usually avoids anniversary posts but felt compelled to acknowledge how profoundly the last twelve months have affected her. She described records as “snapshots” that capture an artist’s present and hoped listeners find parts of themselves in the music.

For Perry, 143 was an open declaration of gratitude — “literally me saying I love you” to her audience — and the subsequent Lifetimes Tour became a conduit for reconnecting with fans around the world. She reflected on the joy of reuniting with longtime supporters and meeting new ones, calling the experience restorative.

The year hasn’t been without turbulence. The September 2024 release of 143 stirred controversy because of producer involvement that many critics questioned; Perry explained on an episode of Call Her Daddy that she sought collaborators who could help realize the songs she wrote about her life’s transformation.

On a personal level, Perry navigated a public breakup from longtime partner Orlando Bloom in June, though the two remain collaborative co-parents to their daughter, Daisy Dove. Earlier, she participated in Blue Origin’s landmark all-woman flight — an achievement that also drew debate about the mission’s priorities.

Amid the external noise, Perry wrote that she’s been asking herself an intimate question: does she love herself every day? Her answer at this moment is a resolute yes. She said she’s proud of where she’s landed and of the perseverance — as an artist and as a person — through years in the spotlight.

She praised her fan community for their steadfastness through wins and setbacks alike, calling their bond meaningful and hopeful that they’ll continue to grow together. “Let’s hope we get to evolve together for years to come and at the end of it all be proud and at peace with how we tried our best in this imperfect world,” she wrote.

Closing her reflection, Perry said she plans to let the next chapter unfold without forcing it: trusting “the angels, the fans, and the music to guide me where I’m meant to go.” She reiterated her unconditional love for her supporters and acknowledged that none of it would be possible without them.
