The ever reclusive Kate Bush has posted a rare message on her website, reflecting on the pandemic and our “confusing and uncertain future.” In the post, titled A Christmas Message, she also thanked the staff of Britain’s National Health Service, advocating for “the pay rises they rightly deserve.” (Britain’s government is notoriously stingy on that front.) In true Kate Bush fashion, the message digresses into contemplation of a goldcrest—“the smallest bird in Europe, even smaller than a wren”—that appeared to her on a walk.
“This gorgeous little ball of fluff flew away after ten minutes or so,” she wrote of the bird. “I’ve only ever seen one once before and very briefly. It made my day. In these strange times, I really hope you can get the chance to stop for a moment and feel nature around you.”
