Karol G made her NPR “Tiny Desk (Home) Concert” debut with a meaningful 16-minute set that included special guests Camilo and Danny Felix.
“I’m happy to be here for the first time. I’ve been longing to be here for a while now,” the Colombian artist said. “I’m singing some of my favorite songs right now. I always listen to my music and my favorites are changing but these are the special ones now.”
Karol, joined by her all-female touring band, kicked off singing a medley of her Maluma-assisted “Creeme” hit and “A Ella,” the song that launched her to stardom.
She then called in Regional Mexican newcomer Danny Felix to perform “200 Copas” off of her latest album KG0516. Felix is a composer and guitarist on the track. “I’m grateful for Danny who made these incredible guitars,” Karol noted.
To close off her intimate performance, Karol invited Camilo to perform their collaboration, “Contigo Voy a Muerte,” live for the first time. “He’s more than a friend, he’s family,” she said, explaining that both artists have similar career stories and that recording the song with him was magical and an honor.
“I’ve always dreamt of being here,” Camilo added after their performance. “You are a pride for our country. I love you.”
