Wearing her best rockstar outfit — leather pants styled with silver chains — Karol G took the virtual stage on Monday (Aug. 30) to headline the first of two Rockstar Summer Spotlight concerts available only on Billboard from Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. ET through Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. ET.
“I am very happy to be here tonight sharing with all of you,” the Colombian singer-songwriter said after opening her set with chart-topping track “Bichota.” “[I’m] very grateful for the opportunity. I’ve picked some of my favorite songs from my new album that I want to share with all of you now. I hope you’re having a good time at home … and that you sing each one of these songs with me.”
She then went on to sing “Ay, Dios Mío!” followed by the bachata-tinged “El Barco,” and wrapped up her show with the slowed-down reggaeton track “DVD.” Karol G shared the stage with with a four-piece all-female band.
Karol G’s Rockstar Summer Spotlight set was an ode to her 16-track set KG0516, with which she scored her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart (dated April 10) — boasting the biggest week by a female act since 2017. An eight-time finalist at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards, Karol G is also set to speak at Billboard Latin Music Week, which returns to Miami Sept. 20-25.

It’s been a great fight and there’s nothing nicer than knowing you enjoy this music with me and that you live it with me. That you come out and sing and dance with me. That my music can help you overcome any situation or that it can express anything you can’t say. It’s very nice because that happens to me with my music as well.”
