Kanye West is sharing his vision on the late Pop Smoke‘s all-new album, Faith, out Friday (July 16).
The hitmaker is featured on Pop Smoke’s track “Tell the Vision,” which also features Pusha T. “Tell the Vision” is one of 20 songs on the highly anticipated project. Faith also features cameos from Rick Ross, 21 Savage, Dua Lipa, Pharrell Williams, Kid Cudi, Takeoff, Quavo and more.
West kicks off the song’s intro saying, “Trippin’/ Wildin’ on television, You could/ Still see a n—a tell the vision/ Pimpin’/ Boy, these boys, pimpin’/ Different/ These boys, boys.”
Moments later, Pop Smoke begins the first verse, rapping, “Look, I remember the days, same ‘fit for a week straight/ I used to eat 50-cent cake, now, it’s Philippe’s/ It’s Philippe’s for the steak and hella thots up in the Wraith.”
After a smooth chorus and interlude by Smoke himself, Pusha T brings in the second verse, rapping, “Look, Tyler got the album of the year, for now/ But Pop about to drop, I see the platinum in the clouds/ Now Push about to drop, so real trappers stick around/ The crown is only for the king, they tryna place it on a clown.”
Also in the track’s intro, a woman delivers a heartfelt ode to Pop Smoke, saying, “Pop was here last week/ He was talkin’ about Brooklyn and the place Brooklyn was at/ How they were really like, thrivin’ like right now/ He was, you know, he was tryna, pull people up with him/ He wasn’t even into where he was about to be/ He just was trying to; he was trying to get there/ He was on his, he was well on his way/ It’s just tragic, 20 years old, rеst in peace/ God bless Pop Smokе.”
“Tell the Vision” was reportedly set to appear on Kanye West’s yet-to-be-released 10th studio album Donda, per Genius. The album, named after West’s late mom, was expected to debut in July 2020.
Pop Smoke’s Faith (which appears to be named after the tattoo above his left eye) comes one year after the release of his posthumous debut, Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon, which became the longest-running No. 1 hip-hop/R&B album since 1990 earlier this year, having sold more than 7 million units to date.
The Brooklyn native, né Bashar Barakah Jackson, was killed on Feb. 19, 2020, at age 20. Ahead of his death, Smoke released the fan-favorite mixtapes Meet the Woo and Meet the Woo 2. The latter debuted on Feb. 7, 2020, just two weeks before Pop Smoke was fatally shot in a home invasion in Los Angeles.
