“Kamenskaya” Returns: Filming Begins on Reboot of the Legendary Series

Production has officially commenced in the Moscow suburbs for the upcoming series Kamenskaya: Reboot. This fresh interpretation of Alexandra Marinina’s acclaimed detective novels is a joint venture between Marmot-Film Studio and the PREMIER streaming platform.

Stepping into the titular role originally made famous by Elena Yakovleva is Yulia Khlynina. The reimagined plot will follow Kamenskaya and her colleagues as they untangle sophisticated criminal webs adapted to the realities of the modern era.

The ensemble cast features Vitaly Kovalenko (taking on the role of Gordeev, also known as “Kolobok”), Dmitry Kulichkov (Korotkov), Pavel Popov (Lesnikov), and Pavel Artemyev (Chistyakov). The director’s chair is occupied by Kirill Pletnev (Offline), while the project is overseen by general producer Valery Todorovsky (The Hipsters). While a release date is currently under wraps, the “Reboot” is slated for a television premiere on the Rossiya channel.

The original Kamenskaya saga debuted in 1999 and spanned six successful seasons. The narrative centered on Major Anastasia Kamenskaya of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department. Beyond Yakovleva’s career-defining performance, the original show featured a star-studded lineup including Sergey Garmash, Dmitry Nagiev, Andrey Panin, and Dmitry Kharatyan.
