Julian Casablancas Throws Opening Pitch In Mets Game: Watch

Sports fans have a feast on their hands right now, and Julian Casablancas is right there at the table.

The Strokes frontman threw out the opening pitch at Monday night’s (July 26) New York Mets game against the visiting Atlanta Braves.

Casablancas is a Mets fan, and he wore a Darryl Strawberry replica and a fetching bandana for the special occasion. He even stuck around to give some commentary on the ball game.

At the top, the rocker was introduced as the “former” lead singer of The Strokes, a slip that was later confirmed to be a mistake.

Casablancas recently signed a global deal with Concord Music Publishing, which includes includes all of his previous and future solo efforts as well as other endeavors including The Voidz, the experimental rock band he formed in 2013.

The Strokes’ sixth and most recent studio album, The New Abnormal, dropped in 2020 and won best rock album at the Grammy Awards. The New Abnormal snagged The Strokes’ first No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts since 2011.

The New York City band recently debuted the new song “Starting Again” during an ad for Maya Wiley’s campaign for mayor.
