Jeremy Dutcher Wins the 2018 Polaris Music Prize

Toronto-based composer and vocalist Jeremy Dutcher has received the 2018 Polaris Music Prize, the award yearly given to the perfect Canadian album of the yr by a panel of Canadian journalists and music business figures. He took dwelling the prize for his debut album Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa, which he composed with archival recordings from his neighborhood, the Tobique First Nation, and carried out in each English and the Wolastoqey language.

Up for the award this year had been albums reminiscent of Daniel Caesar’s Freudian, Alvvays’ Antisocialites, and U.S. Girls’ In a Poem Unlimited. Previous winners of the award embody Arcade Fire, Tanya Tagaq, Kaytranada, Godspeed You! Fucked Up, Black Emperor, Feist, and Caribou.
