Jennifer Lopez Debuts Sultry Cover of the “Kiss of the Spider Woman” Title Track

Once celebrated as Jenny from the Block and later as “Lola,” Jennifer Lopez now reveals a more shadowy aspect of her talent with this compelling new performance.

On Friday, September 5, Lopez unveiled her stirring interpretation of the title song from her forthcoming musical film adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman. Against a lilting waltz, she channels full Broadway bravado, breathing fresh life into John Kander and Fred Ebb’s timeless tale of passion, seduction and mortality.

“Sooner or later, in sunlight or bloom / When the red candles flicker, she’ll enter the room,” she intones, culminating in the haunting refrain: “Here comes her kiss.”

To accompany the single, Lopez shared a series of captivating images—clad in a shimmering emerald gown with jet-black bangs, she poses within a stark prison cell before an immense spider’s web. Alongside the stills, she teased another lyric: “There’s only one pin that can puncture such bliss… Her kiss.”

Set to premiere in theaters on October 10, the film reimagines the Tony Award–winning 1992 Broadway production originally led by Chita Rivera. It follows Valentín (Diego Luna) and Molina (Tonatiuh Elizarraraz), two inmates in an Argentinian penitentiary whose unlikely bond deepens as Molina recounts a glamorous Hollywood thriller starring his idealized diva, Ingrid Luna (Lopez).

Though audiences await its general release, early screenings at Sundance and Locarno have earned acclaim—Rotten Tomatoes currently rates the film at 83%, praising its “visually sumptuous web of musical intrigue” and lauding standout performances by Lopez, Elizarraraz and Luna.
