Fresh off his first performance and win at Univision’s Premios Juventud on July 23, Jay Wheeler grabs his first No. 1 on any Billboard airplay chart as “Viendo El Techo” jumps 5-1 on Latin Airplay chart dated Aug. 7.
Wheeler takes over atop the all-genre Latin chart with 12 million in audience impressions, up 53%, earned in the week ending Aug. 1, according to MRC Data, his best performance following the No. 16 high of “La Curiosidad,” with DJ Nelson and Myke Towers (Jan. 2-dated tally).
“Viendo,” also produced by DJ Nelson, concurrently leads Latin Rhythm Airplay (4-1) and beats Wheeler’s personal best: “La Curiosidad” (No. 8).
Beyond its Latin Airplay and Latin Rhythm Airplay coronations, “Viendo” strengthens its Hot Latin Songs ranking. It pushes 38-19 with gains in all metrics and takes the Greatest Gainer/Airplay trophy.
Back on Latin Airplay, Wheeler’s career launched just a bit over a year ago when “Me Enamoré” arrived at No. 40 and later peaked at No. 23 (May 16, 2020).
