Jason Aldean scores his 23rd No. 1 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart, as “Blame It on You” bounds 4-1 in its 36th week, up 9% to 32.7 million audience impressions, according to MRC Data.
The song — written by Kurt Allison, John Edwards, Tully Kennedy, Michael Tyler and Brian Gene White — is the third single from Aldean’s LP 9, which debuted at No. 1 on Top Country Albums in December 2019, becoming his seventh leader. “We Back” peaked at No. 6 on Country Airplay in February 2020 and “Got What I Got” led for a week last October.
Aldean, who first topped Country Airplay with “Why” in May 2006, boasts the seventh-most No. 1s since the chart began in January 1990. Kenny Chesney leads with 31, followed by Tim McGraw (29), Blake Shelton (28), Alan Jackson, George Strait (26 each) and Luke Bryan (24).
NEW TOP 10s Kane Brown and blackbear’s “Memory” launches at No. 9 on the multi-metric Hot Country Songs chart. The team-up drew 8.5 million streams and sold 7,800 downloads in its first week, ending July 15, following its July 9 release. It enters Country Digital Song Sales at No. 4.
“Memory” marks Brown’s ninth Hot Country Songs top 10. Songwriter-producer blackbear (real name Matthew Tyler Musto) makes his first visit, following two top 10s, among seven top 10s, on Billboard‘s Pop Airplay chart.
Another pop/country collab, Keith Urban and P!nk’s “One Too Many,” jumps 15-10 on Hot Country Songs, sparked by its 38% rise to 6.4 million streams, a gain owed in large part to more prominent placement on Amazon Music’s Today’s Country Hits playlist. On Country Airplay, the song bumps 14-13 (15.9 million, down 1%), after reaching No. 12.
“One” is Urban’s 41st Hot Country Songs top 10 and P!nk’s second. She reigned as featured on Kenny Chesney’s “Setting the World on Fire” for four weeks in 2016.
Plus, Thomas Rhett banks his 19th Country Airplay top 10 as “Country Again” pushes 11-10 (17.8 million, up 3%).
DOWN FROM ‘ONE’ Aaron Lewis’ “Am I the Only One,” which entered atop the July 17 Hot Country Songs chart, slides to No. 31 in its second week, down by 50% to 2 million streams and 85% to 9,000 sold. Its play among Country Airplay chart reporters, however, grew by 200% to 101,000 impressions, ahead of its official July 26 add date.
