The director has decided not to waste any time.
James Gunn has announced that he has already started working on the script for his next film following Superman:
“Already working! I needed something to do while I waited for the rough cut!”

Gunn did not specify exactly which film he is working on. The mention of the “rough cut” refers to Superman: filming for the Superman sequel wrapped in August, after which the project moved into post-production. Gunn decided to spend his newfound free time writing the script for his next project.
Superman will be released in theaters on July 9, 2027.
