James Gunn Clarifies Release Order for Creature Commandos Spin-off and Superman Film
James Gunn had to clarify a statement made by the actor who plays Jimmy Olsen.
James Gunn reported that the series The People v. Gorilla Grodd will release after Superman: Man of Steel, and its main events will take place after the events of the movie:
“It’s a true crime show so it jumps around in time. But chronologically overall it takes place after Superman — and it won’t come out before it.”
These words came in response to a recent statement by Skyler Gisondo, who returned to the role of Jimmy Olsen. The actor previously claimed that the series would take place between two Superman movies.

The People v. Gorilla Grodd will follow an investigation into the case of Gorilla Grodd, who was convicted in 2021 of murdering his own father, the king of Gorilla City. A Daily Planet journalist will try to find out whether he was convicted fairly or if the investigation made a mistake.
The showrunners are American Vandal creators Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault. Gorilla Grodd will be played by Jimmy Tatro. Other Daily Planet staff members will also appear, including Steve Lombard played by Beck Bennett, Cat Grant played by Mikaela Hoover, and Perry White played by Wendell Pierce.
A release date has not been announced yet.
