This week’s new music drops turned back the clock to 2009 when J. Cole and Nicki Minaj, who also released a song with her Young Money brothers Drake and Lil Wayne, released music on the same night. But which one do you have on repeat?
Minaj brought her 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty to streaming services for the first time, and it beamed the Barbs back a decade to fan favorites like “Itty Bitty Piggy” while they were also “Seeing Green” on the Young Money trinity of Minaj, Wayne and Drake’s newly released collaboration.
Cole prides himself on going “platinum with no features,” and his latest album The Off-Season is no exception to the rule — but just because he doesn’t deliberately name-check other artists, that doesn’t mean they’re not still lurking on the full-length project that explore the rapper’s personal revelations, especially about fatherhood.
On the other hand, Olivia Rodrigo’s new pop-punk song “good 4 u” from her upcoming debut album Sour feels very 2021.
So which new music release are you bumping? Vote below!
