Insider Reports Which Ghost Rider Ryan Gosling Will Play
Marvel Studios is reportedly turning its attention to the most famous version of the fiery antihero.
Ryan Gosling will star as Johnny Blaze in a Ghost Rider film from Marvel Studios. Industry insider Jeff Sneider reported this news, specifying that no other bearers of that name will appear in the movie:
“I am informed that Johnny Blaze will be the only Ghost Rider in this movie. Filming is planned to take place on location in California, Nevada, and Oregon.”
Johnny Blaze is a motorcycle stunt rider who made a deal with Mephisto to save his adoptive father. As a result, the character became bonded with the Spirit of Vengeance and gained the ability to transform into Ghost Rider. Nicolas Cage previously played Blaze in films released in 2007 and 2012. A different version of the character, Robbie Reyes played by Gabriel Luna, appeared in the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel Studios announced the new film adaptation at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Alongside Gosling, Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy is working on the project, and Jonathan Tropper is writing the script. According to Kevin Feige, the actor approached the studio himself with a concept based on specific comics, though details have not yet been disclosed.
Ghost Rider is scheduled for release in 2028. An exact release date has not yet been announced.
