Insider Gaming Predicts GTA VI Metacritic Score Below 90
Insider Gaming journalists believe that due to massive expectations, GTA 6 could receive an average critic score in the range of 83-87 points.
Just over a month remains before the release of Grand Theft Auto VI. The game has become a true pop culture phenomenon and has attracted attention far beyond video game fans. Expectations are further heightened by the 13-year gap between main entries in the series.
GTA VI will release on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Given Rockstar’s reputation, official materials, and leaks, many expect the game to deliver a new level of open-world design, especially regarding immersion and NPC behavior.
During an Insider Gaming podcast, Tom Henderson, Mike Straw, Albert Perkins, and GTH stated that they expect the average journalist review score for GTA 6 to land between 83 and 87 points.

This is only a prediction, although such a range would be unusual for the GTA series: since GTA III, no main installment has received less than 95 points on Metacritic. By comparison, Red Dead Redemption 2 received 97 points and had sold over 87 million copies by the end of August 2026.
