Ice Cube Says Trump’s LA ICE Raids Are Designed to ‘Traumatize’ People: ‘Nobody’s Safe, Man’

Ice Cube has publicly aligned himself with the immigrant families targeted by the recent ICE operations in Los Angeles, decrying the federal tactics as unduly harsh.

In a segment from his REAL 92.3 LA interview on The Cruz Show that aired August 7, the West Coast icon criticized the government’s “overbearing” approach—raiding churches, weddings and schools—and voiced his compassion for Latino communities living under constant anxiety.

He argued that the purpose of these sweeps extends beyond deportations, aiming instead to sow fear among every Latinx individual: “Nobody’s safe,” Ice Cube proclaimed. “They don’t care who they grab. It’s sad. They come in and disrespect everybody. They want to traumatize people, too.”

“It’s heartbreaking,” he added. “I’m just counting down until this chapter ends. I can’t imagine how we’ll get through, but it’s painful to watch families torn from their sanctuaries.”

Billboard has reached out to the White House for a response.

This interview coincides with escalating tensions in Los Angeles, which first surged in June with mass protests opposing large-scale deportation efforts and the deployment of the National Guard to back ICE. Ice Cube joins a growing roster of artists—including Tyler, The Creator; Olivia Rodrigo; Billie Joe Armstrong; and Kehlani—who have condemned these enforcement actions.

Even after a federal appeals court upheld an injunction blocking indiscriminate arrests throughout the city, U.S. Border Patrol agents have persisted. Just a day before Ice Cube’s radio appearance, officers emerged from a rented truck to detain individuals at a Home Depot in an operation dubbed “Operation Trojan Horse.”
