Billboard, in partnership with Amazon Music’s flagship R&B/rap brand Rotation, is presenting the R&B/Hip-Hop Summit on Tuesday (Aug. 17).
The one-day event honors the genre’s most influential singers, songwriters, producers and executives during thought-provoking conversations, an exclusive performance, and an exciting award presentation. Blxst receives the Rising Star Award because “his musicality, unique sound, and explosive success on the charts drove Billboard to identify him as a new artist with the potential to grow into a global icon.” Gucci Mane and Pooh Shiesty take the stage to perform “Like 34 & 8” from Guwop’s latest album Ice Daddy.
The six-panel discussions include a One-on-One Conversation with Chicago’s “Rap Star” Polo G moderated by Billboard staff writer Heran Mamo; The Rapper’s Playbook featuring Sno Tha Product, Flo Milli, Rubi Rose and Kash Doll moderated by Mamo; Management 101 with Gordan Dillard of SALXCO, Arnold Taylor of South Coast Music Group and Tunde Balogun of LVRN moderated by Billboard staff writer Neena Rouhani; The Making of Usher’s 8701 20 years later with Usher, Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox moderated by Billboard‘s executive director of R&B/hip-hop Gail Mitchell; The Next Wave of R&B with Victoria Monét, Tone Stith and Joyce Wrice moderated by Naima Cochrane; and Memphis MVPs: A Conversation with Ja Morant and Moneybagg Yo moderated by Billboard‘s hip-hop editor Carl Lamarre.
