Enthusiasts implored disco legend Gloria Gaynor to withdraw from this year’s Kennedy Center Honors, yet recent disclosures reveal the vocalist has quietly supported GOP initiatives over the past several years.

Investigators at MediasTouch examined Federal Election Commission records and discovered that, under her birth name Gloria Fowles, she contributed nearly $22,000 beginning in 2023 to conservative figures—among them Mike Johnson, Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz and Marsha Blackburn—through the WinRed fundraising platform.

Notably, FEC filings show no indication that she has donated directly to President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign.

Billboard has reached out to Gaynor’s representatives for comment.

These revelations emerge just weeks after her announcement as a 2025 Kennedy Center Honoree alongside KISS, George Strait, Sylvester Stallone and Michael Crawford—a lineup unveiled shortly after President Trump assumed chairmanship and dismissed multiple board members.

Following the announcement, advocates for LGBTQ+ rights urged the anthemic singer—widely celebrated for her “I Will Survive” legacy—to forgo the ceremony in protest of Trump’s policies. Among them, The View co-host Ana Navarro appealed publicly for her to decline the honor, highlighting the former president’s history of undermining women’s and LGBTQ+ rights.

Historically reticent about politics, Gaynor previously asserted in a 2017 Library of Congress address that she does not view herself as a political figure and has no intention of entering the fray.
