Mexican singer-songwriter Horacio Palencia has a signed an exclusive global publishing agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group México, Billboard has learned.
With a catalog that surpasses more than 500 songs and having penned chart-topping tracks for acts that range from Banda MS to Luis Fonsi, Palencia was most recently named for the seventh time regional Mexican songwriter of the year at the 28th annual BMI Latin Awards. It marks the first time he signs exclusively to a publisher.
“I’m very happy to have made this decision because I know that my songs will be in good hands at UMPG,” Palencia said in a statement. “I now have peace of mind of having my past and future catalog in one home, which will allow me to continue writing new songs. I’m always grateful to UMPG for their fantastic job in supporting my career as a songwriter.”
Yadira Moreno, managing director for UMPG México, Central America and VP new business development Latin America, added, “We have always admired Horacio’s unique talent for storytelling with his songs. UMPG’s family is thrilled to offer him a home for all his songs. Our new agreement will allow us to foster even further his art with the love and passion he deserves.”
UMPG México is home to other singer-songwriters such as Mon Laferte, Leonel García, Natalia Lafourcade and Espinoza Paz, to name a few.

For now, Palencia is focused on growing his career as a singer and most recently released his latest singles “Traviesa (Remix)” in collaboration with Raymix and Aczino, and “Con Ojos de Amor.”
