Hilary Duff Returns to Music with New Label Deal and Docuseries in Development

Ten years have passed since Hilary Duff’s last studio album, and now the singer-actress is gearing up to make her musical comeback.

On September 9, Atlantic Records revealed it has inked a new recording contract with the former Disney Channel star. Duff’s previous studio effort, Breathe In., Breathe Out., debuted in 2015 via RCA Records. In the years since, the 37-year-old has concentrated on acting, headlining series such as Younger and How I Met Your Father.

While details about her next album remain under wraps, Duff will concurrently be featured in a forthcoming docuseries directed and executive-produced by Sam Wrench. According to the announcement, the show will “trace Duff’s eagerly anticipated return to music alongside her personal evolution, offering an intimate glimpse into her world.”

After rising to fame on the Disney Channel with Lizzie McGuire, Duff transitioned into pop music in the mid-2000s, delivering Top 40 singles like “Come Clean” and “Wake Up.” Her last appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 was in 2015 with “Sparks,” the lead single from Breathe In., Breathe Out.

Her 2003 breakthrough album Metamorphosis and the 2005 compilation Most Wanted both reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and she’s amassed five Top 10 albums in total. Collectively, her five best-selling studio records have moved 7.8 million units in the U.S., per Luminate.

The yet-to-be-titled docuseries, produced by Next of Kin Content (an EverWonder Studio imprint), follows Wrench’s previous work on Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter.
