Rosalía and The Weeknd are teaming up once again, and this time, they’re joining forces for the sultry bachata track “La Fama.”
The Spanish singer-songwriter shared a preview of the song, set to drop Thursday, and its music video, which features a cameo from Machete star Danny Trejo. “So get ready for some heat … ‘La Fama,'” the Mexican-American actor says in the short clip.
On cue, a hip-swiveling Rosalía takes center stage singing a few lines from the track, followed by The Weeknd who sings his verse in Spanish. It’s not the first time the Canadian-born artist has sung en Español: Last year, The Weeknd teamed up with Maluma for the bilingual “Hawái” remix, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart (dated Sept. 11, 2020).
And it’s not the first time Rosalía and The Weeknd have collaborated either. The “Con Altura” singer jumped on a bilingual “Blinding Lights” remix last December.
The announcement of “La Fama” comes almost a week after Rosalía confirmed her new album, titled Motomami, is set to drop in 2022. The new set will follow her 2018 Latin Grammy-winning project El Mal Querer.
Rosalía announced Motomami via a 15-second montage with quick shots of Rosalía strutting in a cutout one-piece paired with black studded heels and, in another look, covered in butterflies and glitter as she chants the phrase “Motomami” over a bass thump.
