Henry Cavill Confirms Lead Role in Warhammer 40,000 TV Series

Henry Cavill has broken his silence and discussed working on the adaptation alongside writer Mike Flanagan.

Henry Cavill confirmed that Amazon’s first live-action Warhammer 40,000 adaptation will be a television series and that he will star in the lead role. Which specific character he will play remains a secret for now.

Cavill also shared that writer Mike Flanagan has been working with the team on the story for some time. According to the actor, story development has advanced significantly:

“We are already working with him on the creative side and have made serious progress in developing the story. Some of you have been asking whether I am still going to star in the series. Rest assured—definitely yes! However, who my character will turn out to be remains a secret for now.”

Cavill acknowledged that bringing such a massive universe to the screen will not be easy. However, in his view, Flanagan’s involvement helps shape the project into the right form:

“As fans know, this is a real monster to wrestle with. But thanks to Mike’s outstanding talent, it is taking shape wonderfully. Together with Games Workshop, we are working tirelessly to create the most authentic and true-to-the-spirit Warhammer adaptation for you that you could possibly imagine.”

Flanagan is known for the series The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and The Fall of the House of Usher. Games Workshop previously reported that the creator completed the initial story outline and moved on to scriptwriting. Media outlets also reported that Flanagan expects to serve as showrunner and director for the project. The series is still in early development, so its premiere may take several years.
