On Thursday (July 1), Ty Dolla $ign and R&B duo Dvsn released their all-new single “I Believed It.”
The collaborative tune features the rapper and Dvsn — composed of singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85 — and a special appearance from the late Mac Miller.
One day ahead of its release, Dvsn posted a previously recorded video montage on Instagram, in which Miller appears visibly excited about the song during their recording sessions.
They captioned their post with the release date for “I Believed It.”
Ty Dolla $ign kicks off the song, singing, “You lied to my face and I believed it/ I believed it, I believed/ Said ‘No matter what I do, you never leave me’/ Never leave me, never leave/ And now you’re gone/ So long.”
Daley later begins the second verse, “I know you gon’ listen when I stop talkin’/ And you’re gonna miss me when I start walkin’/ You start lookin’ for me when I start watchin’/ Drive each other crazy, but I still want you/ Still want your crazy a– and all your mood swings/ Still want you, but I’m movin’ on to new things.”
Mac Miller’s special appearance begins in verse three, when he melodically raps, “I know you like to laugh/ But that don’t keep you right inside/ Tell me, is it worth it? I ain’t perfect/ Know that I ain’t been a nice guy/ All the time, that’s the way that life it goes/ Back when sh– was cheaper than the price of rolls/ You clean your seats and wipe your nose.”
The smooth jam marks the second collaboration for Ty Dolla $ign and Dvsn; the trio previously teamed for their song “Dangerous City.” Released on the latter’s 2020 album, A Muse in Her Feelings, the track also features reggae sensation Buju Banton.
Ty released his latest album, titled Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, in 2020. The album includes a star-studded track list, featuring guest appearances from hitmakers including Post Malone, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, Burna Boy, Jhené Aiko, Mustard, FKA Twigs and Sonic Silk’s Anderson .Paak.
