The distribution company Russky Reportazh has announced the theatrical return of Hayao Miyazaki’s latest animated triumph, The Boy and the Heron.

Moviegoers will have the opportunity to experience the film in breathtaking 4K resolution starting March 26. Drawing inspiration from Genzaburo Yoshino’s novel How Do You Live?, the narrative follows young Mahito, a boy mourning the loss of his mother. After a chance encounter with a peculiar grey heron, he is drawn into a high-stakes journey through a mystical, uncharted world where long-buried secrets await discovery.

Since its 2023 debut, The Boy and the Heron has enjoyed immense commercial success, earning 465 million rubles at the Russian box office. Beyond its financial performance, the film has achieved widespread critical acclaim, securing the Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA for Best Animated Feature.
