Harry Styles Breaks the Three‑Hour Mark at the Berlin Marathon

On Sunday, Sept. 21, Harry Styles completed the Berlin Marathon in under three hours, recording an official time of 2:59:13.

Organizers confirmed his participation to the news agency dpa, and local paper Der Tagesspiegel was the first outlet to report that the singer had run the race.

The 31‑year‑old, a former member of One Direction, was one of roughly 55,000 participants on what many regard as one of the fastest marathon courses in the world.

According to reports, Styles ran under the alias “Sted Sarandos,” wearing a headband and sunglasses. His sub‑3 finish is a milestone many amateur and seasoned marathoners aim to achieve.

Der Tagesspiegel also noted that he had been spotted training on Berlin streets in the weeks leading up to the event.

At the finish line he appeared in a photo with Richard Whitehead, a two‑time Paralympic 200m gold medalist who is attempting to run 20 marathons this year; Whitehead shared the snapshot on Instagram.

Only weeks earlier Styles had been seen training in London, running through Hyde Park as part of his preparation.

He previously ran the Tokyo Marathon, where online records show a net time of about 3 hours 24 minutes and an average pace near 7:47 per mile — making his Berlin performance a clear improvement.

Outside of running, Styles has enjoyed major success in music: his self‑titled debut album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S. and topped charts internationally. His sophomore LP, Fine Line (2019), became another No. 1 and includes the Grammy‑winning single “Watermelon Sugar.”
