H.E.R. will perform “Hold On” with America’s Got Talent season 14 winner Kodi Lee during the singing competition’s live show next Wednesday, Billboard can exclusively announce.
Their season 16 performance, which will air Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, will take place a day after the second quarterfinals round. On Wednesday night’s show, it will be revealed which acts will make it to the semifinals: vocal group 1aChord; singers Peter Rosalita, Jimmie Herrod and Madilyn Bailey; comedians Gina Brillon and Kabir Singh; or magician Dustin Tavella. Round 2 of quarterfinals will air next Tuesday, Aug. 17.
Lee, the 25-year-old inspirational blind and autistic singer, won AGT in September 2019 during the 14th season. He has since returned to the franchise for an emotional performance of Harry Styles’ debut single “Sign of the Times” during the finale of AGT: The Champions in February 2020. Six months later, he offered a tender piano performance of Finneas’ “Break My Heart Again” during the live results show of season 15.
“Hold On” is featured on Grammy-winning R&B star H.E.R.’s first full-length album, Back of My Mind, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top R&B Albums chart in July.
