Gustavo Dudamel and World-Class Orchestras to Lead Emotional Venezuela Tribute at 2026 World Cup Final

The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final halftime show has evolved into a poignant global moment, with organizers confirming a major tribute dedicated to Venezuela. On Thursday, July 16, it was announced that acclaimed conductor Gustavo Dudamel will helm a historic collaboration between the New York Philharmonic and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela.
This unprecedented joint performance is set to take place this Sunday at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, framed within the high-stakes atmosphere of the final match between Spain and Argentina. The production aims to serve as a beacon of international solidarity, specifically honoring the resilience of the Venezuelan people in the wake of the devastating earthquakes that struck the nation earlier this summer.
The crisis, triggered by a pair of massive 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude tremors on June 24, has caused widespread destruction, leaving thousands dead and tens of thousands displaced. By placing this tribute at the heart of the world’s most-watched sporting event, the organizers are amplifying the urgent need for global awareness and humanitarian aid.
Dudamel and the two prestigious orchestras join an already stellar lineup for the inaugural World Cup halftime show. The event features a diverse array of global stars, including BTS, Justin Bieber, Madonna, Shakira, and Burna Boy. Coldplay is also slated to perform, supported by the PS22 Chorus, Ghetto Kids, Emmanuel Kelly, and the beloved Muppets from Sesame Street.
The historic halftime spectacle will be broadcast live to a worldwide audience this Sunday, July 19. With the match between Argentina and Spain kicking off at 3:00 p.m. ET, viewers can expect the halftime program to begin shortly after, at approximately 3:45 p.m. ET, via Fox Sports and Telemundo.
