“El Tóxico” leads with a 7% increase in audience impressions, to 5.3 million, in the week ending Sept. 5, according to MRC Data. León, who secured a first top 10 with chart entry in 2019 (“Me La Aventé,” No. 6 peak), clocks a first No. 1. In fact, it’s the Hermosillo, Sonora singer-songwriter’s first leader on any Billboard airplay chart.
Grupo Firme previously led Regional Mexican Airplay through its featured role in Lenin Ramirez’s “Yo Ya No Vuelvo Contigo” (June 2020). In between, the Eduin Cazares-fronted band from Tijuana, Baja California, reached a No. 4 high with “No Estoy Perdiendo Nada,” with Enigma Norteño (October 2020).
“El Tóxico” concurrently picks up on the all-genre Latin Airplay chart with a 16-13 jump (previously a No. 7 peak).
