‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Euphoria’ Actor Eric Dane Dies

American actor Eric Dane, a celebrated fixture of contemporary television, has passed away at the age of 53. The news of his death was shared in a statement by his family.

The cause of death was Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a terminal neurodegenerative condition. Dane’s battle with the disease first came to light in 2025.

Born in San Francisco in 1972, Dane initiated his acting journey in the early 1990s with guest appearances on iconic series such as Saved by the Bell and The Wonder Years.

He achieved global stardom for his portrayal of Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy and later earned critical acclaim for his complex role as Cal Jacobs in Euphoria. His final performance in the third season of Euphoria is scheduled to premiere on HBO this April 12.

His diverse cinematic credits include roles in X-Men: The Last Stand, Marley & Me, Burlesque, Night with a Psychopath, and Americana, among others.
