Gojira notches its first No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Rock Albums chart with Fortitude, which debuts atop the list dated May 15.
In the April 30-May 6 tracking week, Fortitude earned 28,000 equivalent album units, according to MRC Data, with 24,000 from album sales.
The French metal band previously debuted and peaked at a No. 4 best on Top Rock Albums with 2016’s Magma.
On the Hard Rock Albums chart, Fortitude joins Magma as Gojira’s second No. 1. The new set also launches as the band’s first No. 1 on the all-genre Top Album Sales chart.
Four tracks from Fortitude infuse the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, led by “Another World,” which re-enters at No. 14. It’s followed by re-entries “Amazonia” (No. 17) and “Born for One Thing” (No. 18) and a debut for “New Found” (No. 24).
