Ghost of Yotei Star Admits Replacing Dzina Was “Terrifying” but “a Dream Come True”

Atsu has become a “dream come true” for performer Erika Ishi. In an interview she described being chosen as the new face of Ghost as a significant milestone.

She said, “I’ve always been a huge fan of Sony’s games, and being on their set felt like the fulfillment of a long-held dream.”

The actress admitted that stepping into Jin’s role was “intimidating at first,” but “the mind adapts quickly,” and before long she was joking with the team and feeling at home.

What sets Atsu apart is that she was created from scratch: “I’ve never played a heroine who literally shares my face and mannerisms — down to her movement and voice.”

Her influences for the role included Kurosawa’s films and the jidaigeki tradition, Kill Bill, the anime Samurai Champloo, the performances of Toshiro Mifune, and Clint Eastwood’s Man with No Name.
