Free Silent Hill DLC Released to Celebrate Classic Horror Game Remake
Since its debut last September, Konami’s Silent Hill f has firmly cemented its place as a standout entry in the legendary franchise. Critics and players alike have lauded the title—with outlets like Polygon celebrating its haunting art direction, nuanced character work, and compelling narrative—earning it a slew of industry accolades, including significant recognition at The Horror Game Awards.

Now, ten months later, the experience is expanding with a chilling new DLC that bridges Konami's modern vision with the legacy of one of gaming’s most terrifying classics: Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. Originally released for the PlayStation 2 in 2003, Crimson Butterfly remains a definitive cult-horror masterpiece, celebrated for its inventive "Camera Obscura" mechanics. In March 2026, Koei Tecmo breathed new life into the title with a comprehensive remake for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Windows PC.

Back in late January, Koei Tecmo teased a collaborative effort with Konami and Square Enix, promising free in-game cosmetics for both Silent Hill f and Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse. Today, we finally have a clear look at what these items entail.

Fatal Frame enthusiasts will immediately recognize the iconic pink school uniform donned by Mio Amakura, the central protagonist of Crimson Butterfly. Much like Hinako Shimizu, the lead of Silent Hill f, Mio is thrust into a nightmarish struggle for survival against spectral entities—though, unlike Hinako, she at least has the companionship of her sister, Mayu.

Set against the backdrop of 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f follows Hinako, a social outcast struggling to find her footing in the crumbling mining town of Ebusigaoka. As the village slips into ruin, it becomes the stage for a waking nightmare when an ominous, suffocating fog descends upon the region, forcing Hinako to confront the darkness alone.

For fans eager to merge these two horror legends, the crossover costume is available as a free download starting today across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.
